Motorsport is exciting, thrilling and fun — but for many people it can also feel confusing or hard to break into. At Larne Motor Club, we want to change that.

Whether you’re 18 or 80, have a car or just a keen interest, there’s a place for you. And that’s why we’re doing things a bit differently this year — to make it easier than ever to get involved, stay informed, and feel part of the community.

Why We’re Making a Change

Over the years we’ve grown a strong group of passionate members. But we noticed something:

  • Important information gets buried in long message threads

  • Newer members aren’t sure where to ask questions

  • Younger people sometimes feel intimidated by how clubs “usually” communicate

  • Volunteer opportunities — like marshalling or event help — don’t always reach everyone

We wanted to fix that.

Introducing Our New WhatsApp Community

We’ve now set up a dedicated WhatsApp Community for Larne Motor Club members and anyone interested in getting involved in motorsport.

This isn’t just another group chat — it’s a structured space where you can:

📢 Get official announcements — clear and easy to find

💬 Join the General Chat — talk about events, ask questions, share photos

🚩 Explore volunteer roles — event marshals, timekeepers, organisers

🎥 Join our Media & Content Crew — help with photos, videos, social media

And the best part? You’re in control:

You choose which groups you join.

No more scrolling through long threads to find updates. No more confusion about who’s doing what. Just clear, organised communication.

Why This Works for Everyone

You might be:

  • A seasoned rally fan

  • Someone who’s curious about marshalling

  • A young person looking to get stuck in

  • A parent supporting someone interested in motorsport

  • Someone who loves photos and event media

There’s a place for all of that in our Community.

You Don’t Need a Car (or Experience)

One of the biggest myths about motorsport is that you need a car or a licence to be involved.

You don’t.

Volunteering roles like marshalling, timekeeping and event support are open to everyone — and we provide the training and guidance you need.

Our Club thrives because people from all backgrounds help make events happen — and that’s something we’re proud of.

How to Join the Community

We’ve made it easy. If you’d like to join the Larne Motor Club WhatsApp Community, simply click the link below and choose the groups you want to be part of:

Once you’re in, you’ll start getting updates, see opportunities to help, and be connected with fellow motorsport enthusiasts.

What Else We’re Doing

This year we’re also rolling out:

  • A 12-month meeting plan with themes that appeal to all members

  • Social event nights and skills sessions

  • Opportunities for young people to get involved with media and promotion

Keep an eye on the blog, our Facebook page and the WhatsApp Community for more details.

Come Be Part of the Fun

Motorsport isn’t just about cars going fast — it’s about community, friendships, experiences, and shared passion. If you’ve ever thought “I’d like to get involved”, now’s the perfect time.

We hope to see you on WhatsApp, at a meeting, or at an event soon 🏁
