Lyons takes second Larne win in 2020.

Updated: Oct 4, 2020

After a lot of behind the scenes work was completed to ensure a socially distanced Autotest, the only thing that couldn't be controlled was the weather.

Rain set in over TTS in Nutts Corner as a great selection of cars gathered to start the Return of the Handbrake Turn Autotest. However not even the wet weather could dampen the excitement that was around as many competitors had not thrown their car around in over six months.

Twelve tests were the challenge that faced the near forty entry, over three test sites. All competitors were placed into their own groups where they remained for the day.

Twelve experts from the N.Ireland Autotest Championship started on test one who completed a different test than the other clubman entries.

Jonni McDaid quickly found grip in the wet setting quick times with Andrew Blair and Andrew Earney also chasing his times. However it was Robin Lyons who lead the event from start to finish in his Mini Special. This was Robin's second overall victory at a Larne event after winning our first event back February.

The clubman classes made up the other two groups. In the front wheel drive class Jimmy Dougan brought his Nova home first in class. David Jenkins enjoyed his day and was first in the rear wheel drive class.

Larne Motor Club would like to congratulate Robin Lyons on his overall victory and thanks must go to McMillan Specialist Cars, Transport Training Services, all the marshals for enduring the weather and Colin Earney and Laura Oakman the assistance given to Larne Motor Club in the organisation of the event.
