What is the Fully Forward Autotest Challenge?

The Fully Forward Autotest Challenge is a new club competition format designed by Larne Motor Club for their members. Unlike conventional autotests that often involve reversing sections, this format focuses exclusively on forward driving. This change simplifies the driving technique required and emphasizes precision, speed, and control while moving forward.

The challenge will take place over three events in 2026:

  • The Wesley Lamont Autotest in February

  • A second event possibly in May (to be confirmed at end of March)

  • The Autodock Fully Forward Autotest in October, which will conclude the season

Each event will test drivers’ skills on different courses, offering variety and excitement throughout the year.

Why Fully Forward?

The popular style of Autotest encourages more people to try autotesting and helps experienced drivers sharpen their forward driving skills.

New Class Structure for All Levels

Larne Motor Club has introduced a new class system to ensure fair competition and encourage participation from drivers of all experience levels. The classes will be based on driver skill and vehicle type, allowing everyone to compete for honours within their category.

Key Features of the Class Structure

  • Novice Class: For beginners and those new to autotesting. This class offers a supportive environment to learn and compete without pressure.

  • Intermediate Class: For drivers with some experience who want to improve and challenge themselves.

  • Expert Class: For seasoned competitors aiming for top honours and the fastest times.

  • Juniors: Allowing under 18 drivers to get involved in grass roots Motorsport.

This structure promotes inclusivity and ensures that every participant has a chance to shine.

What to Expect at Each Event

The Wesley Lamont Autotest – February

The season opener will set the tone for the year. Expect a challenging course designed to test precision and speed on tight corners and short straights. The February event is perfect for drivers to get a feel for the new format and start building momentum.

Mid-Season Event – TBC

The second event will introduce new course layouts and obstacles to keep drivers on their toes. This event will be crucial for those aiming to climb the leaderboard and secure points towards the overall challenge.

Autodock Fully Forward Autotest – 10th October

The final event will be the highlight of the season. It will feature the most demanding course and offer the biggest rewards. Drivers will compete for the overall challenge title, making this a must-attend event for anyone serious about autotesting.
