Larne crews get ready to tackle the Derek Walker Trial.
Saturday 3rd February sees the MG Car Club run their very popular Derek Walker Trial. This year the event returns to Ballymena where all crews and their cars will gather in anticipation of the 09:30 start. The fun filled event will see six crews from Larne tackle twenty tests throughout the day.
The event provides a fantastic variety of cars that any enthusiast would love to watch. Class 8 is where all the modern machinery will battle against each other, which is dominated by the popular Mazda MX5s. The only Larne crew not in a Mazda and the first Larne team to go out at #39 will be the Citroen C2 team of Jonathan Millar and Kenny Nixon.
The next Larne team out at #49 will be hoping to have a tight battle for the class 8 victory. The well established crew of David Crothers and Barbara Kane will certainly be one to watch in their MX5.
Paul and Wesley Magill will certainly be trying hard as they spin their Mazda around the test pylons.
Another Larne crew who will be looking for a top 10 class finish will be the most exuberant Larne driver, Gareth Dillon with Ivan McAteer showing him the way. The final pair of crews will be having their own friendly battle as Tedi Cross will be directing husband William around the exciting tests. Closely following them and looking for bragging rights will be Hugh O'Boyle who'll be relying on Mark Smyth to help him beat the Cross MX5.
Whatever the outcome, one thing is for sure, there will be some great drivers on display throughout the eight classes and everyone will have an enjoyable day out.
